For decades, Netflix has wanted you to watch it. Now they want you to live it—through show-based “immersive entertainment experiences” in a new concept called Netflix House. And North Texas is one of only two places in the country where you’ll get the chance to do it.
The streaming giant plans to open a Netflix House location at the Galleria Dallas mall at LBJ Freeway and the Dallas North Tollway, along with a second venue at the King of Prussia mall in Pennsylvania. Both are slated to open in 2025.
Netflix has already offered live experiences based on its hit programs “Bridgerton,” “Money Heist,” Stranger Things, “Squid Game,” and “Netflix Bites.” But Netflix House will kick that up a notch as “an unforgettable venue to explore your favorite Netflix stories and characters beyond the screen year-round,” according to a Netflix blog post.
From immersive experiences to ‘retail therapy’ to show-themed drinks
“At Netflix House, you can enjoy regularly updated immersive experiences, indulge in retail therapy, and get a taste—literally—of your favorite Netflix series and films through unique food and drink offerings,” Netflix CMO Marian Lee said in a statement. “We’ve launched more than 50 experiences in 25 cities, and Netflix House represents the next generation of our distinctive offerings. The venues will bring our beloved stories to life in new, ever-changing, and unexpected ways.”
Netflix says it selected former department stores at Galleria Dallas and the King of Prussia mall “because they’re part of two of the most popular shopping centers in America, boasting hundreds of retailers, high foot traffic, and proximity to major cities.”
The Galleria Dallas location will be housed in the 100,000-plus-SF first and second floors of the mall’s former Belk department store, which shut its doors in 2020 and had previously been the home of a Saks Fifth Avenue and a Marshall Field’s, according to the Dallas Morning News. The location is on the northwest side of Galleria Dallas.
To prep fans for what’s inside, Netllix says it will install “eye-popping sculptures and a mural mash-up of characters from their favorite Netflix titles” outside the venue.
“Imagine waltzing with your partner to an orchestral cover of a Taylor Swift song on a replica of the Bridgerton set—and then walking around the corner to compete in the Glass Bridge challenge from Squid Game,” the Netflix blog post reads. “After pretending to fight for your life, you’ve worked up an appetite and want to get a bite. You see a nearby restaurant with food inspired by Netflix shows from around the world; the meal is memorable, but you still want to buy some Stranger Things merch. Luckily, there’s a shop that sells that Hellfire Club T-shirt you’ve always wanted.”
Mall glad to be ‘at the forefront of the experiential economy’
Galleria Dallas General Manager Angie Freed said that welcoming Netflix House “allows the center to sit at the forefront of the experiential economy, which is such a key aspect of retail today.”
“We’re focused on giving our guests the best possible experience as they shop, dine, and spend time with friends and family.” Freed added in a statement.
Galleria Dallas noted that it’s “always evolving” as new retailers and restaurants move into the nearly 2 million square-foot venue.
