The Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials list for 2023 has been released—and six Dallas-Fort Worth companies made the cut by providing “great work experiences” for the sought-after demo.
Born between 1981 and 1996, millennials aren’t the dew-faced youngsters they once were. Now hitting ages between 27 and 42, they’ve been supplanted in the youth market by Gen Z (born 1997 to 2012) and Gen A or Alpha (born since 2012).
But millennials remain the largest American generation yet, a tech-savvy demo prized by companies and marketers alike.
List is based on half a million survey responses
“In the last year, Great Place To Work surveyed companies employing 7.5 million people in the U.S. and received 1.3 million survey responses,” the organization writes in its methodology intro. “Of those, nearly 500,000 responses were received from millennials at companies who were eligible for the 2023 Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials list and this list is based on their feedback.”
Here are the six North Texas companies that made this year’s list:
Large Companies
Ryan, LLC :: Irving :: Ranked No. 23
The Dallas-based global tax services and software giant provides an integrated suite of federal, state, local, and international tax services. Ryan recently acquired RETC Group, a property tax consulting firm also based in Dallas, to add to the company’s growing property tax practice.
Last month, Ryan was named one of the Best Workplaces in Texas by Great Place to Work for the seventh straight year.

PrimeLending :: Dallas :: Ranked No. 36
PrimeLending, a PlainsCapital Company, is a national home mortgage lender combining personal guidance and local expertise with “fast service, more choices, and the flexibility to meet homeowners’ unique needs.” It works alongside customers in all 50 states.
PrimeLending has previously been ranked a Best Workplace for Women, as well as a Best Workplace in Financial Services & Insurance by Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine1.

Vizient :: Irving :: Ranked No. 79
Member-owned healthcare company Vizient has previously made Great Place to Work’s Best Workplaces in Texas list. It says it serves more than 50% of the nation’s acute care providers, including 97% of the nation’s academic medical centers and more than 20% of ambulatory care providers. Vizient provides expertise, analytics, and advisory services, as well as a contract portfolio that represents more than $130 billion in annual purchasing volume.
In March, Vizient held a policy briefing for more than 50 congressional staff and other healthcare shareholders at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Small and Medium Companies
PMG :: Dallas :: Ranked No. 6
A global independent digital marketing company, PMG uses strategy, insights, creative and media, as well as its proprietary marketing intelligence platform Alli, to deliver its promise of “Digital Made for Humans.”
With a global team of 500-plus employees, PMG has worked with brands including Apple, Athleta, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Kohler, McDonald’s, Nike, Old Navy, Sephora and Shake Shack. It’s received recognition from Cannes Lions to Adweek Breakthrough Media Agency of the Year.

It says its team offers “strong technical, business, and strategic skills” to help clients identify, architect, and develop custom solutions.

Embark LLC :: Dallas :: Ranked No. 70
Embark is a business advisory firm that aims to make life easier for finance, accounting, and technology leaders “with forward-thinking solutions and inimitable hospitality.”
Employee comment: “The people here care about each other on a personal level. Each Embarker cares a great deal about the person next to them, and cares about the mission of the company overall. That care plays out in a number of ways. To start a meeting, typically people ask about how you are doing on a human level before they ever ask about the professional stuff. If you are sick or need to leave early to help with the kids, multiple people will ask “what can I take off your plate” and then send a text to check in on you later. The care here is phenomenal.”

“Employees tell us whether or not leaders are accessible, if they communicate honestly and clearly, and if their actions match their words,” Great Place to Work says in its methodology intro. “They tell us if they feel respected as individuals, if they receive support for their well-being and personal development, and if they have opportunities to contribute, and appreciation for their work. They tell us whether they believe their company is fair related to pay, profits, promotions, recognition, favoritism, and opportunities for growth. They tell us if they are proud of their work, their team, and their company, if they feel they make a difference, and if their work is meaningful. And they tell us if they enjoy the people they work with, if they feel cared for, and if they can be themselves.”
“List rankings are based on this employee feedback, which we analyze to determine the extent to which this experience is shared by the full workforce,” the organization adds. “Great Place To Work measures the differences in survey responses across demographic groups and roles within each organization to assess both the quality and consistency of the employee experience. Statements are weighted according to their relevance in describing the most important aspects of an equitable workplace.”
