Dallas is well known for the music created by a litany of home-grown artists including the late Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother, Jimmy, Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, Eryka Badu, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Annie Clark of St. Vincent, and scores of others.
So it shouldn’t be any surprise that Canadian singer/songwriter Nelly Furtado would find Dallas an inviting place to record music for her latest album that’s due out in March.
The Oak Cliff Advocate reported that Furtado has been recording with John Congleton at Elmwood Studios in Oak Cliff.
In an Instagram post, Furtado wrote: “My love affair with Dallas, Texas began when I met Annie Clark of St. Vincent, who eventually connected me with John Congleton so that he could produce my new album, The Ride.”
She even shot a video for the song “Pipe Dreams,” at a Lake Highlands house she fell in love with while attending an estate sale there.
