A tech company focused on making the hardware and software for 3D printing has set up shop in North Texas.
With its eyes on the growing additive manufacturing space, South Dakota-based B9Creations has opened its newest office at the Venture X-The Realm at Castle Hills coworking space in Lewisville.
“(Our) growth trajectory, paired with key talent acquisition in North Texas, made it the right time to expand,” a spokesperson for B9Creations told Dallas Innovates via email.
New offices to support customer-facing roles
Launched more than a decade ago out of founder and CTO Michael Joyce’s garage—and fueled early on with $510,000 in funding from Kickstarter campaigns—B9Creations manufactures 3D printers, along with software and accessories. Its products’ applications range from healthcare and jewelry to aerospace and defense.
“As additive manufacturing continues to move across the value stream, we’ve witnessed it steadily move toward operating with equal capability and credibility as traditional and precision production methods,” the spokesperson said. “At B9Creations, we’ve developed technology that delivers tolerances that exceed those of traditional manufacturing equipment, because we believe this is the key to opening the door to fully scaled production.”
B9Creations has 150 customers in Texas
Already having done business with 150 customers in the Lone Star State, B9Creations said the DFW location will give it access to “key customers and high-value markets, in addition to positioning it closer to suppliers.” The company also noted the region’s talent pool, international connectivity due to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and the region’s “pro-business” environment as draws to the area.
The company currently has four employees at its Lewisville offices, which will house its sales and financial personnel. It expects to grow customer-facing teams at the offices in areas including sales and support. Over the next three years, B9Creation plans to have more than 25 employees in North Texas, according to the Lewisville Leader.
B9Creations has a total team of 50, with personnel in Denver and at its headquarters in Rapid City, S.D., where it also has manufacturing operations.
“Building a robust customer service and support engine will be critical to our continued growth,” the spokesperson said.
Building on recent growth
With products, dealers and “strategic partners” in 70 countries across the globe, B9Creations said the Lewisville office will help it capitalize on recent growth. In 2019, the company moved into a new 18,000 square-foot office and manufacturing plant in South Dakota, more than quadrupling the size of its footprint. It followed that up in 2020, taking the No. 2,318 spot on the Inc. 5000 list with three-year revenue growth of nearly 181%.
