For the second year, conservation nonprofit Texan by Nature (TxN) has announced its annual list of the TxN 20—a ranking of companies with Texas operations that have shown their commitment to conservation.

This year’s DFW-based TxN 20 honorees include Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Farmer Brothers, Harvest Seasonal Kitchen, North Texas Municipal Water District, Texas Health Resources, and Vistra.

Twenty-one companies from 12 industries were chosen based on: “a stated dedication to conservation, demonstrated commitment to conservation via investment and volunteerism, measurement and reporting of spending and impact on conservation efforts, and employee engagement,” according to a statement.

The list is meant to provide a catalogue of best practices and metrics to others within the industry.

“These companies are leaders in their industry and they are innovators in conservation. I am thrilled to recognize their efforts, and I encourage other companies to follow their example. Together, we can keep Texas thriving for the next generation,” former First Lady and Texan by Nature founder Laura Bush said in a statement.

TxN supports the acceleration of conservation efforts that benefit natural resources, health, and economic prosperity. Texas-led conservation practices and resources are created through the Austin-based nonprofit that calls itself “a catalyst for thought leadership, innovative partnerships, and community-led solutions.”

Earlier this year, the Trinity Park Conservancy and its Trinity River Conservation Corps program was named a 2020 Conservation Wrangler by TxN.
