14 Dallas-Area Companies Make the Deloitte 2021 Tech Fast 500 List

The top 5 local companies on Deloitte's Fast 500 list include Dallas-launches Shiftsmart at No. 96 with 1,649% revenue growth, followed by Dallas-based Crayon at No. 155; Plano-based Aligned at No. 157; Plano's Brainvire Infotech at No. 180; and Dallas' o9 Solutions at No. 203.

Deloitte released its 2021 Technology Fast 500 rankings today—and 14 Dallas-area companies made the list. The annual report ranks the 500 fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, fintech, and energy tech companies in North America.

“In the face of innumerable challenges resulting from the pandemic, the best and brightest were able to pivot, reinvent and transform, and grow,” said Paul Silverglate, vice chair, Deloitte LLP and U.S. technology sector leader, in a statement. “We celebrate the winning organizations and especially the talented employees driving their success.”

Shiftsmart, a Dallas-launched labor management platform “built for the modern worker,” tops North Texas rankings at No. 96 with 1,649% revenue growth.The company, now based in New York, has a significant Dallas presence.

Shiftsmart CEO Aakash Kumar said in a statement that supporting retail and hospitality workers during the pandemic and working with the Small Business Administration helped spur Shiftsmart’s strong revenue growth.

In June, Dallas Innovates noted that Shiftsmart’s co-founders Patrick Brandt and Kumar were Southwest finalists for EY Entrepreneur of the Year.

Last year, we wrote about Shiftsmart’s $16.3 million equity funding raise. We also wrote about Get Shift Done, a North Texas nonprofit for hospitality workers during the pandemic, formed by Shiftsmart’s Brandt and Access Healthcare CEO Anurag Jain in partnership with the Communities Foundation of Texas. 

The other North Texas companies on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list include:

Crayon, a Dallas-based IT cost optimization and digital transformation company, made the list at No. 155 with 881% revenue growth. The outfit is part of a global company headquartered in Oslo, Norway.

Aligned, a Plano-based data center platform focused on adaptable and future-proof technology, lands at No. 157 with 870% growth. Last year, we wrote about Aligned’s closing of a $1 billion credit facility, one of the largest in data center history.

Brainvire Infotech, an award-winning Plano-based digital transformation agency, takes the No. 180 spot with 755% growth. Brainvire offers advisory, design, and engineering solutions to a wide array of industries and companies worldwide.

o9 Solutions, a Dallas cloud-based business management platform, nearly cracks the Top 200, coming in at No. 203 with 674% growth. The company powers digital transformations of integrated planning and operations. Chakri Gottemukkala, o9’s co-founder and CEO, is a finalist for Innovator of the Year at The Innovation Awards 2022, presented by D CEO and Dallas Innovates. 

Compass Datacenters, a Dallas-based builder of custom movie-in-ready data centers, is next at No. 305 with 406% growth. Last year, we wrote about how Compass joined the B2B podcast trend with its “Not Your Father’s Data Center Podcast.”

Qentelli, a Dallas-based company that enables organizations to run, grow, and transform their businesses through technology and “digital twins,” is at No. 323 with 376% growth. Here’s a look at our profile of president and founder Sanjay Jupudi

Alkami, the Plano-based provider of cloud-based digital banking solutions for banks and credit unions, lands at No. 367 with 318% growth. Last spring we wrote about Alkami’s planned IPO launch with a $2 billion valuation; in September we covered the company’s first acquisition since it went public.

Apex Fintech Solutions, a Dallas-based company providing the infrastructure upon which some of the world’s top digital trading platforms operate, hits the ticker at No.424 with 270% growth. Last spring we wrote about Apex’s innovative solution that gives investors immediate access to funds when they sell U.S. equity securities.

Appspace, a Dallas-based software platform that delivers content to workplace devices and digital signage, makes the list at No. 443 with 251% growth. Appspace helps companies connect their digital and physical workplaces with communications, workplace, and administration solutions.

Zimperium, a Dallas-based mobile security platform, is at No. 444 with 251% growth. The firm says it’s the only mobile security platform purpose-built for enterprise, securing both mobile devices and applications so they can securely access data. Zix, a Dallas-based security technology company, lands at No. 470 with 233% growth. Zix provides email encryption services, email data loss prevention, and mobile applications designed to address the bring-your-own-device corporate tech trend. Just this month, we wrote about Zix’s acquisition by OpenText in an $860 million deal.

Argos Health, a Dallas-based company that maximizes claim reimbursement for hospitals, health systems, and physician groups, makes the list at No. 475 with 230% growth. Argos focuses on complex claims that are the most challenging for providers to resolve, with over $1.5 billion in revenue recovered.

Newline Interactive, an Allen-based touch display tech company, touches in at at No. 480 with 226% growth. Newline focuses on corporate and education solutions by featuring a new, interactive ecosystem powered by an innovative set of digital tools—bringing “meeting rooms, classrooms, conference calls, and collaboration sessions to a whole new level.”

Austin’s Shipwell was near the top of the list at No. 4 with 32,670% revenue growth, followed by:
