Dallas-based Women In Bio Executive Director Gina Ford has been named as the organization’s first-ever chief executive officer, taking on an expanded role as both CEO and a member of the board of directors.
“Women are excelling in the life sciences and biotech industries—earning more degrees, driving financial performance, and advancing innovation across the field,” Dianne Keen-Kim, board chair and president of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Women In Bio, said in a statement. “Under Gina’s strategic leadership, WIB has achieved national growth, expanded its programs, and strengthened key partnerships. The board and I are confident she will guide the organization to even greater impact as CEO.”
Women In Bio is dedicated to advancing women in the life sciences and it said Ford is charged with leading the continued growth and vision of WIB.
For more than 20 years, Women In Bio has empowered women across biotech, pharma, and life sciences to lead, engage, and grow at every career stage. WIth 13 chapters across North America, WIB says it delivers impactful programs, mentorship opportunities, and events that not only elevate women professionals but also strengthen the life sciences industry by fostering diverse leadership and innovation.
‘Shaping the future of the industry’
As the executive director, Ford has been instrumental in driving WIB’s national expansion, launching new chapters, and securing significant funding to scale operations and build organizational capacity. WIB said that during her tenure, Ford has driven the organization’s impact by cultivating industry partnerships, increasing engagement across WIB’s national and chapter networks, and advancing initiatives that support women in life science careers.
Ford brings over two decades of experience in life sciences, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries, WIB said. She has held C-Suite roles in corporate strategy, commercial strategy, portfolio management, business development, and patient advocacy.
Before coming to WIB, Ford served in senior level roles for Crinetics and Ipsen Pharmaceuticals where she focused on business operations, strategy, and growth. WIB said Ford is a proven startup and growth-stage expert, widely sought after for her successful fundraising experience across seed, venture, and strategic capital.
“I’m honored to serve as the first CEO of Women In Bio,” Ford said. “Our mission has never been more important. As women in the life sciences continue to grow and transform the space, Women In Bio is here to ensure women are at the forefront, driving innovation, leading organizations, and shaping the future of the industry. I am excited to build on our momentum and expand the impact of our programs nationwide.”
