Walmart To Remodel 72 Texas Stores, Will Launch Store-Based App Experiences

The planned upgrades include a "store-based app experience" aimed at helping customers easily navigate through stores, book services at Walmart’s Auto Care Center, and more.

Walmart has announced plans to remodel 72 of its stores across Texas in 2026—including many in Dallas-Fort Worth—as part its efforts to “modernize the in-store and digital shopping experience” in stores across the country. Upgrades will include new technology, layouts, and services to offer “faster, more convenient shopping and delivery in as little as an hour for most customers.”

Walmart said it has invested more than $2.5 billion over the past five years to upgrade stores throughout Texas. The newly planned upgrades include a “store-based app experience” aimed at helping customers easily navigate through stores, book services at Walmart’s Auto Care Center, and more.

Other service upgrades will include free pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members.

Elise Vasquez-Warner, SVP of Walmart’s Southwest business unit, said her company’s continued investment “reflects how deeply we believe in this state and its communities.”

“From modernizing our stores to enhancing the overall shopping experience, everything we do is about better serving our customers and supporting the associates who make it happen,” she added in a statement.

Delivering ‘real benefits to the community’

Walmart said every new store or remodel will bring “real benefits to the community”—from construction jobs to long-term careers in retail, pharmacy, and store leadership. Customers will be able to purchase “elevated brands and products” from brands like De’Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson, and Lemme—along with interactive displays that make it easier to picture how products look in customers’ homes.

Beyond its stores, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have had another big impact over the past yearr—donating $204.5 million to local nonprofits in Texas, including providing 100.2 million pounds of food to help fight hunger. The company said it just kicked off its annual Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign to help address food insecurity locally, with every donation and qualifying purchase providing access to essential food and resources to local food banks.

Walmart said it plans to complete remodels at Texas stores throughout the year, including North Texas locations in Allen, Corsicana, Denton, Fort Worth, Garland, Gun Barrel City, McKinney, Plano, Quinlan, Rockwall, and Sachse. You can find the store’s addresses by going here.
