The University of Texas at Arlington’s reputation as a national leader in online education has received a tangible boost by earning major gains in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs rankings. UTA’s College of Education’s online programs, for example, placed in the top 5% nationally.

UTA said its online master’s in education ranked 15th out of 313 institutions, and those programs tailored for military veterans and military-connected students jumped to No. 5, up from No. 10 in 2024. The university said these rankings mark the seventh consecutive year that the College of Education’s online master’s programs have ranked among the top 60 in the nation.

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI)’s online master’s in nursing programs climbed to No. 65 in the nation among 198 institutions, up from No. 83 a year ago. CONHI’s nursing programs for veterans moved up one spot to No. 18.

“These rankings underscore UTA’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and accessibility for traditional, non-traditional and military-connected students,” UTA President Jennifer Cowley said in a statement. “Our nursing and education programs represent critical workforce pipelines in our region and throughout Texas.”

UTA said its online programs offer flexible options that empower students at all stages of life to balance their studies with work, family and other commitments, and help them achieve their educational goals without compromising their responsibilities.

UTA said its College of Nursing and Health Innovation continues to distinguish itself as a powerhouse in online nursing education.

As one of the nation’s largest producers of baccalaureate-educated registered nurses and the largest in Texas, the college’s innovative curriculum and experienced faculty have prepared many students to excel immediately in the healthcare field. The college is a three-time-designated National League for Nursing Center of Excellence, an honor given to institutions that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing education, UTA said.

“UTA continues to prove we can deliver a world-class education either on campus or online,” Tamara L. Brown, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, said in a statement. “Our programs are designed to meet students’ needs while equipping them with the knowledge and skills to lead in their professions. The success of our students is our top priority.”
