AURORA 2018 is looking for Dallas-based artists and collectives to submit proposals for their work to display in the upcoming public art exhibit.
AURORA is an extensive public experience that focuses on the art of light, video, and sound. The fifth edition of the exhibit will be presented Oct. 26 to Nov. 3 with a new theme, “Future Worlds,” which focuses on imagining scenarios that represent the potential future of the world.
“Our aim is to be a citywide project that expands through and beyond the scope of downtown Dallas.”
Joshua King
“Our aim is to be a citywide project that expands through and beyond the scope of downtown Dallas. By shifting the central exhibition footprint, the artist will have a fresh canvas to work with, while bringing attention to an iconic public space in the city,” AURORA co-founder Joshua King said on the event’s website.
The recipients of $2,000 grants will be selected by a committee to exhibit their art at one of 12 sites around Dallas, including such places as the Majestic Theater, Oncor Park, Texas Theatre, Cedars Union, and the Victory DART Station near American Airlines Center.
Artists interested in applying for the AURORA 2018 Artist Grants program can apply on program’s website. The submission deadline is Aug. 6.
