Work by student filmmakers at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts will be featured in an upcoming public art installation at The MAC in Dallas.
During Saturday’s MediaGala, The MAC’s outdoor green space will be filled with the students’ video art, which all conveys the influences of news media on culture and society,
The event doubles as an end-of-the year celebration for students who took part in the 2017 Pegasus Film Festival.
Students are part of Booker T.’s Film and Video Club, which has grown from five to more than 65 members since it’s founding in 2001. Students are led by faculty advisor, Niloo Jalilvand, who also serves as mathematics chair and film and arts video director at the Dallas ISD arts magnet.
Film and Video Club members have presented their films in local festivals including the Pegasus Film Festival, an event founded by Jalilvand.
MediaGala starts at 7 p.m. and will also include musical performances beginning at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
