Editor’s update: Sky Elements Drones, which was set to perform in Dallas on Dec. 31, has “informed Reunion Tower that they will not be able to fly their New Year’s Eve show,” Reunion Tower President Dusti Groskreutz said in a statement on Thursday, Dec. 26. “They are doing this out of an abundance of caution following a recent incident as they carefully review their processes for future shows,” he added. The decision follows a Dec. 21 event in Orlando, Florida, where some of the North Texas company’s drones collided mid-air and fell during a light show. Earlier this week, Sky Elements issued a statement expressing hope for the recovery of those affected and confirming its cooperation with the FAA and Orlando officials to determine the cause, according to CBS News. Groskreutz said Reunion Towers’ annual NYE celebration in Dallas will proceed featuring a 259 LED light show and fireworks spectacular.

“Five. Thousand. Drones. That’s it. That’s the article.”
Sky Elements
.…describing America’s first 5,000-drone light show, which the company performed on Nov. 28 in Mansfield.
North Texas-based Sky Elements—the drone light show wizards who’ve been featured on America’s Got Talent and who have a habit of breaking drone records in DFW—were at it again in Mansfield recently. Working closely with San Francisco-based swarm drone developer UVify, Sky Elements performed America’s first 5,000-drone light show on November 28 in the southern DFW suburb. The show featured a sky-filling turkey, a gingerbread village, Santa Claus on his sleigh, and other holiday-themed jaw droppers.
“We teamed up to create holiday cheer in a new, fun way: by making the largest gingerbread village… made entirely of drones!” Preston Ward, chief pilot of Sky Elements, wrote on the company’s website. “Not only did we spread the holiday spirit, but we also scored our 11th Guinness World Record while we were at it!”
