With the Texas Stock Exchange slated to launch trading in 2026 and the New York Stock Exchange planning its own launch of NYSE Texas, the Nasdaq is setting up its own home on Y’all Street. Yesterday the Nasdaq held a luncheon in Dallas honoring Ross Perot Jr. for his contributions to the thriving Texas economy—and announced that it will be opening a new regional headquarters in Dallas.
Nasdaq said the space will be “a hub for Nasdaq clients and the wider community and will serve as a premium convening space to celebrate the leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators that call the Lone Star State home.”
The NYC-based stock market index is already home to over 200 listed companies headquartered in Texas, representing nearly $2 trillion in market cap.
“Nasdaq is deeply ingrained in the fabric of the Texas economy, and we look forward to maintaining our leadership as the partner of choice for the state’s most innovative companies,” Adena Friedman, Chair and CEO of Nasdaq, said in a statement. “Beyond our listings franchise, we are proud to support a wide network of clients who trust us to help solve their most complex challenges.”
Ed Knight, Nasdaq’s executive vice chairman, said that under the leadership of Gov. Greg Abbott, “the Texas Miracle has made Texas synonymous with innovation-led growth and smart regulatio.”
“We share his commitment to these principles and will continue to advocate passionately on our clients’ behalf,” Knight added. “As a result, we’ll take any action needed to ensure our clients enjoy the same benefits as all other companies in the state.”
At Tuesday’s luncheon, Nasdaq presented Ross Perot Jr., chairman of Hillwood and the Perot Companies, with the inaugural Nasdaq Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognized Perot’s unparalleled contributions to the Texas economy and his lasting impact on innovation, technology, economic prosperity, and community development.
“Visionaries like Ross Perot Jr. prove that Texas is the blueprint for American success,” Gov. Greg Abbott said at the event.
