“As an entrepreneur, I love and hate the endless surprises each day brings.”

… on treating every day like a reset, via LinkedIn

As Dallas-based real estate maven and serial entrepreneur Tanya Regan put it: “Some days are a treadmill. That’s why I treat every day like a reset and start fresh.”
Regan was reflecting on a day that began with a meticulously planned speaking engagement for SMU’s Business Leadership Speaker Series — and ended with a flat tire detour. But rather than grind her optimism, Regan called the snafu “a reminder that things never go as planned.”
Regan expanded on this reminder in a LinkedIn post: “It’s important to stay adaptable and overcome the challenges that come our way.”
That resilient mindset has fueled Regan through a career spanning fashion, oil and gas, and historic building rehabs.
Earlier that day, the owner and president of Wildcat Management offered MBA students at SMU’s Cox School of Business a wealth of insights from that diverse career. Described as a “category queen” in commercial real estate, Regan fielded questions on industry topics — explaining how to apply an economic development background to CRE, for example.
Ragan stressed the importance of leveraging an understanding of tax incentives, grants, and credits, along with building strong industry relationships, to gain credibility and success in commercial real estate. “Your skillset will naturally transition in CRE if you apply yourself,” she told the MBA students.
On the issue of going back to the office versus remote work, her view was clear: “Those who are physically present and actively engaging with their boss are more likely to be promoted faster, earn higher salaries, and advance rapidly.” Her advice to students was direct: “Get out there and be seen.”
