To help fill those jobs, the DRC—with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies—recently launched a new workforce development tool called the DFW Health Care and IT Talent Pipeline Portal. The online tool provides "expansive, up-to-date data on the supply of and demand for talent for middle-skill jobs."

NPower Texas Expands Free Tech Fundamentals Program to Dallas-Fort Worth

The extended deadline to apply for Fall 2022 is August 15. NPower Texas is the state arm of a national nonprofit offering free tech training to 18- to 26-year-olds and military veterans and spouses.

80% of the program's graduates find full-time jobs or continue their education—with an average salary boost of 384%. In March, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $15 million to NPower, its largest donation ever.

Dallas College Is Awarded a $5M Apprenticeship Building America Grant

The grant—part of more than $121 million given by the U.S. Department of Labor to help strengthen and modernize Registered Apprenticeship programs—was the only one awarded in North Texas. The college was also the only higher education institute in Texas to get one of the grants. The grants are intended to help workers find a “reliable path to the middle class," the Labor Department says.
