Dallas-Fort Worth ranked No. 9 nationally with 106 patents the week of Sept. 22. One went to Citibank for a system, developed largely by an Irving team, that uses large language models to draft the reports banks must file when they suspect financial crime.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai was in North Texas on Friday to announce the tech giant’s largest investment in a single state. The multiyear plan will add three Texas data center campuses, increase energy supply to the state’s grid, and train 1,700 electricians as the AI economy scales.

The firm's CEO says the new, state-of-the-art, 200,000-SF Sachse facility "will be the foundation of our future growth and global strategy," with the capacity to process 1 million liters of plasma annually and a planned expansion to 2 million liters.
