Festive Groundbreaking Held for Dallas’ $325M Harold Simmons Park

The "transformational" park along the Trinity River near downtown Dallas will feature a 40,000-square-foot event lawn, an event center, a "six-tower" playground, a water play area, picnic groves, a skate and bike park, a unique cable ferry, and more. And as last night's event showed, fun will be had by all.

This week, the Trinity Park Conservancy announced that a groundbreaking will finally happen in 2024. The 250-acre Harold Simmons Park will offer community-uniting nature, a stunning playground with towers and tube slides, a prairie walk, a two-acre bike and skate park, overlooks with views of the greenway and the city skyline, and more.

Corps of Engineers Steers $20M More to Fort Worth’s Panther Island Project

Fort Worth’s Panther Island Dream Gets More Real with $403M Federal Funding

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced plans Wednesday to spend $403 million on the final design and build of a 1.5-mile flood-control bypass channel, which will reroute part of the Trinity River near downtown Fort Worth—and create Panther Island. Fort Worth hopes the 800-acre island will become a massive housing and mixed-use entertainment and recreational district, connecting downtown Fort Worth to the city’s cultural district and the Stockyards.
