Dallas nonprofit Behind Every Door Ministries purchased a faded, 50-year-old community center from the Salvation Army in partnership with Veritex Community Bank, the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL Foundation, local pro golfers Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. A $15 million capital campaign has led to a revitalized community hub for Southern Dallas.

Southern Gateway Park Is ‘On Track’ to Break Ground on Amenities This Spring for Phase One Opening Next Year

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson called it a "game-changing investment in the people and families of southern Dallas.” And there’s little doubt the Southern Gateway Park will be transformative once it opens as planned next year.
“We are on track to break ground on the park’s amenities later this spring and open as scheduled in 2024,” a spokesperson for the Southern Gateway Public Green Foundation told WFAA this week, adding that $3 million in new funding has been secured since January 1 for the $172 million project.

Created by Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, Bezos Academy is building a network of tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in underserved communities in the U.S. The school near the new Ridge at Lancaster community will be the second to land in the city. Thornton location into Comerica BusinessHQ—an 8,000-SF collaborative space offering a mix of coworking spaces, incubation fellowships, and technical assistance. The center will address three big needs: "capital, cultivation, and connectivity."

UNT Dallas’ New Ryan Tower Is a Beacon of Promise in Southern Dallas

The 180-foot Ryan Tower stands at the heart of the UNT Dallas campus and can be seen for miles in every direction. Funded by a $2 million gift from UNT benefactors Amanda and G. Brint Ryan, the tower is meant to serve as "an icon of the university, a symbol for higher learning, and a prominent symbol of the community it serves."
"For me, it symbolizes the heights our students and our future students will attain," UNT Dallas President said at the tower's ribbon-cutting.
