City of Dallas’ Information Officer Is Resigning for ‘Gig in Private Industry’

Bill Zielinski oversaw the city’s response to a ransomware attack as well as to an employee deleting millions of electronic police records. Brian Gardner, the city’s chief information security officer, will be the department’s interim director, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Bill Sproull, president and CEO of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and industry trade group Tech Titans, has resigned, saying he is leaving to “pursue other opportunities.” The move is effective immediately.

As he departs with praise from the Richardson Chamber board, the two organizations say they will appoint interim leaders while they make decisions about new leadership.
