DataBank Snags $2B Loan To Build First 3 of 8 Data Centers South of Dallas

According to a Business Insider report, Oracle will be the tenant for all three data centers, as well as the fourth one planned at the campus in Red Oak. Tokyo-based MUFG Bank, Ltd. was the administrative agent, coordinating lead arranger, and sole bookrunner on the $2 billion loan.

DataBank is building a 480MW data center campus in Red Oak, its third new campus announced in the past 12 months. Construction is underway, with the first phase set to be operational by the second quarter of 2026, aimed at meeting the growing demand from A.I. and cloud applications.

Google's "Dallas cloud region," first announced in 2022, includes sprawling data center campuses in the North Texas cities of Midlothian and Red Oak. At a press conference in Midlothian, the company announced an additional $1 billion investment in Texas, for a total of over $2.7 billion invested in the state to date.

One feaures a 270-degree panoramic screen that's 7 stories wide and 4 stories tall. The other offers motion and environmental effects like "vibration, water, wind, snow, lightning, and scents."

Six Ellis County Organizations Receive $180K in Funding from Google

Google announced that six Ellis County organizations collectively will receive more than $180,000 from the company to support the physical and mental well-being of the county’s residents.
The company has a data center in Midlothian and recently announced a new data center in Red Oak.
“Providing resources and other support to six essential organizations in Ellis County is a necessary step towards enhancing the wellbeing and lives of residents throughout the community,” Kate Franko, regional head of Data Center Public Affairs for Google, said in a statement....

Fort Worth-based Bell Textron and Red Oak's Qarbon Aerospace will manufacture major subassemblies for Virgin Galactic's next-generation Delta class spaceships. The production-model vehicles are designed to fly weekly with six passengers per ship, with production slated to begin next year.
“Bell and Qarbon Aerospace are established partners who bring know-how, ideas, and resources that will enable us to produce up to six new Delta class ships per year," said Virgin Galactic CEO Michael Colglazier.
