In December, we told you about a $6 million seed funding round at Grata, a Dallas-based online platform that enables customers to deliver gratitude and recognition to a brand’s frontline employees in real time. With Grata now operating in Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida at companies like Tex-Mex restaurant Mesero and First United Banks, Brandt aims to start raising up to $25 million in a Series A toward the end of this year, D CEO says.
Founded in 2019 by Mark Bunting, Grata is a first-of-its-kind online platform for consumers to convey recognition directly to a brand's frontline employees in real-time. The company said that investors who have joined to support the success of Grata include Capital Factory, Clutch, Hall Group, and Perot Jain.
The startup has assembled a team of entrepreneurial veterans and industry experts including Patrick Brandt, Wesley Bryan, Allison Swope, and John Rabara.
The online marketplace is moving fast to leverage its labor ecosystem that directly connects the right worker to the right job. The moves come on the heels of Shiftsmart co-launching Get Shift Done, a locally based initiative that helped hospitality and service employees displaced by COVID.
What started as an idea with backing from community organizers and restaurant owners, Get Shift Done has rallied support to give meals and livelihoods to at-risk groups in 11 cities.
In this four-part series, Capital One shines a spotlight on nonprofit leaders addressing the most critical community needs from food and hunger relief to workforce development, digital access and small business support. In Part One, leaders tackle the hunger crisis head on.
