A first-of-its-kind in North Texas—and possibly the country—My Possibilities in Plano is growing in size and scope to train its "Hugely Important People" for roles in sectors from retail to hospitality. It’s not a moment too soon as the disability community continues to grow, and the workforce gets stretched.
The Healthy Kids, Healthy Families grant was awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Plano-based My Possibilities will use the funding to support its Healthy Lifestyles curriculum, integrating health and fitness activities into daily practice for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Soap Hope wants to attract more people with disabilities to participate in the academy's internships to learn the inner workings of employment in a fulfillment center. Take a look inside the new center and meet the HIPsters, a.k.a. Hugely Important People, working there.
