Major League Cricket Names New Chief Executive

As CEO of Cricket West Indies for the past seven years, Johnny Grave enhanced the governance, cultivated a high-performance culture, and maximized the commercial and cricketing opportunities for the organization, Major League Cricket said. The league's six teams include the Grand Prairie-based Texas Super Kings.

With the first-ever Major League Cricket match looming Thursday in Grand Prairie, the sport of cricket is catching on in DFW. Sixes Social Cricket, a London-based immersive entertainment concept, opened at Grandscape on June 17 to help North Texans get in the swing of things.

U.K.’s Sixes Social Cricket Is Launching Its First U.S. Venue at Grandscape in The Colony

North Texas is quickly staking claim to be the capital of cricket in the U.S. We already have the first professional cricket stadium in the U.S.—Grand Prairie Stadium, home of Major League Cricket's Texas Super Kings, who'll host the MLC's inaugural match this July 13th. Now U.K.-based Sixes Social Cricket has announced the U.S. debut of its immersive social cricket experience here, too. It's slated to open this summer at Grandscape, the shopping and entertainment destination in The Colony.

Major League Cricket is coming to Grand Prairie Stadium starting in July after the league held its first draft of domestic players for teams including the newly named Texas Super Kings. The team also has a newly named coach: Stephen Fleming, a former captain of the New Zealand national cricket team and head coach of Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings.

The investors joined Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and others committing a total of $120 million to the MLC.
Noted sports architect HKS is designing a "world-class" Major League Cricket stadium in Grand Prairie. Upon completion early next year, it's expected to be the leading venue for cricket in the U.S., the MLC says.
