CRO Kristi O’Brien and CXO Kit Ulrich have joined the $2 billion Dallas-based influencer commerce marketing platform, which is used by nearly 40% of Gen Z and Millennial women in the U.S., according to LTK.
While TIME put Maximum Effort and Waymo on its 2025 worldwide covers, Dallas future-shaping companies are in the mix. Two are Dallas-based. Another Texas company—now a $2B brand—got its start here, too.
Six local entrepreneurs have joined 494 other "women at the top of their games" by making Inc.'s Female Founders 500 list. From a nonprofit helping battle-scarred veterans to an influencer marketing innovator to a nationwide "all-American" bakery chain and more, here's what the six women created—and why they're thriving.
LTK Co-Founder and President Amber Venz Box says the creator commerce platform has rebuilt the LTK app from the ground up. Now users have control over their feed with the ability to discover creators by interests and location. And for the first time, they can see and connect with friends on LTK.
Based in Dallas and Fort Worth, the four local entrepreneurs pursue missions ranging from making healthy hair care accessible to all to turning locations into landmarks to blazing new trails in influencer marketing.
Dallas-based LTK helped create the creator economy when it launched in 2011, launching a new category that monetized Instagram and allowed lifestyle creators to become entrepreneurs. It was valued at $2 billion just 10 years later. But when Venz Box first started the company, she had only $236 in her bank account, according to Fortune Magazine.
The new LTK Boost advertising solution lets brands amplify creator collaboration content directly from the creator’s social media handles. The Dallas-based global creator marketing platform says that will lead to "higher engagement and conversion."
LTK has influencer retail operations on five continents and recently expanded its presence into new markets. The company continues to aggressively expand its operations to accelerate the growth of its three-sided marketplace focused on creators, brands, and shoppers.
“Our mission is economic empowerment, period.” says Craig Lewis, Gig Wage founder and CEO. The Dallas 1099 payroll solutions company collaborated with Green Dot and nonprofit Commonwealth on a study of what types of 'financial interventions' help provide financial security to a fast-growing non-traditional workforce in the gig economy. Empowerment starts with understanding, Lewis says. "We want to get involved to start to set the tone on what that understanding should be, so that we can replicate it at scale.”
It's been dubbed the creator economy, freelancer economy, gig economy, independent economy—but to Gig Wage, it's just becoming the economy. In 2022 the Dallas-based fintech will be hyperfocused on its next phase of growth in a booming industry in need of its seamless, reliable banking platform. Kristen Blum, the new senior director of strategic brand initiatives, will be at the center of that.
The investment values LTK, formerly rewardStyle, at $2 billion. The fashion-forward tech innovator plans to use the capital to rapidly grow its team and accelerate its multifaceted, influencer-driven marketplace for creators, brands, and shoppers.
Catherine “Kit” Ulrich, the former CPO of WeightWatchers and Shutterstock and the youngest-ever CPO of a publicly traded company, is the new general manager of rewardStyle's fast-growing influencer-driven consumer shopping app.
