Bank of Montreal Taps North Texas for its Newest Tech Hub

With 50,000 employees and $820 billion in assets, the Bank of Montreal plans to add 50 new employees to its 250-person DFW workforce. Placing its newest tech hub in North Texas is part of the bank's plan to make the U.S. a major focus of its business.
BMO joins JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and PNC Bank in having a significant tech presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

With a grant from the McKinney EDC added to its $2.9 million 2021 seed funding round, Aiden Technologies is moving to Serendipity Labs in McKinney's Craig Ranch Development. The startup has been on a tear since it launched its tech a little over a year ago. With offices in New York and California and $1 million in annual recurring revenue, it plans to grow its team and expand its market.

Minneapolis-based startup Ascent Solutions recently announced it has chosen Cypress Waters in Coppell for its new 33,000-square-foot "cybersecurity epicenter." The center will house secure areas for cyber investigation, automation, and intelligence. But it will also feature a nationally scaled cyber apprenticeship program and serve as a think tank to drive thought leadership in the industry.

Plano-based Critical Start—which says its mission is "delivering badass cybersecurity"—raised the $215 million strategic growth investment from Austin's Vista Equity Partners. The move comes as ransomware attacks increased 104% in North America last year, and as other Dallas-area cybersecurity firms have been recent targets of $525M to $1B acquisitions and investments.
