Dallas city officials have implemented a new Incentive Policy that includes a range of new tools to promote investment in underserved areas, including standardized tax abatements, community development loans and grants, predevelopment loans, and an infrastructure investment fund. These measures are expected to spur new development, create jobs, and enhance equity for all Dallas residents.

The Boone Family Foundation dedicated $2.65 million and Lyda Hill Philanthropies committed $2.5 million to help fund the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt, a network of parks and trails the TPL is developing across Oak Cliff and southwest Dallas.
"For 80 years, Dallas has dreamed of a greenbelt along Five Mile Creek to benefit the city’s health, connectivity, and environment," the TPL's board chair said.

The Dallas Water Commons project, slated to break ground in 2024, will transform an industrial site in Dallas' Cedars neighborhood into something both beautiful and purposeful: a public wetlands park with hike and bike lanes that will cleanse and filter 650 million gallons of run-off stormwater each year. A big bonus: protecting the wetlands habitat and the species that live and breed there.

Oncor has donated Parkdale Lake and the land surrounding it to the city of Dallas to help complete The LOOP, a 50-mile walk and bike trail connecting north, south, east, and west Dallas. It's the largest parkland dedication in Dallas since 1938.

The private donations by local companies and foundations are for the Dallas R.E.A.L. Time Rapid Rehousing initiative. Its goal: house more than 2,700 homeless people and families over the next two years. The $10M in private funds will complement $62M in federal funds allocated by local governments and DHA, the North Texas housing authority.
