The Opportunity 2040 Plan from from Dallas-based nonprofits Commit Partnership and Child Poverty Action Lab has a goal of cutting cut by half the number of children living in poverty in Dallas County while doubling the number of young adults attaining a living wage by 2040. The Dallas effort is one of three fundraising partnerships with New York-based Blue Meridian Partners and local and regional funders that have raised a total of $335 million.
From POETIC—which helps girls who've experienced maltreatment, commercial sexual exploitation, and sex trafficking to find their voices—to Parks for Downtown Dallas, Café Momentum, Family Gateway and more, the 27 nonprofits share one ultimate goal, The Dallas Foundation says:
They all provide "children and families with a brighter and more equitable community to live in.”
Child Poverty Action Lab's President and CEO Alan Cohen will be a featured speaker next Wednesday at Capital One's Reimagine Communities Summit. He'll be on the "Navigating a Pandemic” data analytics panel at the virtual summit. Here are a few of his insights on how we can empower change.
