The ranking came from Nature Index, which tracks health care research articles published in top science journals, offering a snapshot of landmark discoveries from 6,545 institutions around the world.
The prizes are given in seven categories: artificial intelligence, biological sciences, engineering, medicine, physical sciences, public health, and technology. They recognize and support top Texas innovators, providing seed funding to advance groundbreaking science and highlight Texas as a premier destination for world-class research.
The project, known as Vascularized Immunocompetent Tissue as an Alternative Liver, or VITAL, aims to "biofabricate" functioning livers using patients' own cells and advanced 3D printing techniques.
UTA and UT Southwestern researchers have built BIT, a new computational framework that helps scientists identify the proteins that switch genes on and off in cancer and other diseases. The work could pave the way to more targeted treatments and boost gene research accuracy.
