A New Bezos Academy Breaks Ground Near Southern Dallas Community

Created by Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, Bezos Academy is building a network of tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in underserved communities in the U.S. The school near the new Ridge at Lancaster community will be the second to land in the city. The preschools offer year-round programming, five days a week, for children ages 3-5 years.

After 16 years of executive and strategic leadership at Dallas College, Dr. Lonon is taking the helm as the eighth chancellor of one of the largest community colleges in the U.S. On its seven campuses across Dallas County, 125,000 students pursue 300+ degrees each year, with an economic impact of $204 million in payroll and operations spending.

Forefront Living's Presbyterian Village North senior living community in North Dallas will be home to a new Bezos Academy in Fall 2022. The tuition-free, Montessori-inspired Bezos Academy will be the first in Texas—and second in the nation—to be located in a senior living community. "We believe in the power of generations interacting," says Tim Mallad, CEO of Forefront Living.

Created by Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, the Bezos Academy has built a network of eight tuition-free preschools in underserved communities in Washington state. Now the first two Bezos Academies outside Washington are coming to Dallas College campuses in Oak Cliff and Lancaster.
Admissions will be open to families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level with children ages 3 or 4.
