Synthetic Reality: Does Real Even Matter?

For Fight #4 of Digital Fight Club, Farrukh Malik, CEO of Roomored, will go up against Steve Nix, CEO of ForwardXP.

Editor’s note: Dallas Innovates is the media sponsor for Digital Fight Club on Aug. 28. Digital Fight Club is a no-holds-barred event that pits technology experts against each other in a head-to-head, rapid-fire discussion on a hot-button topic rooted in innovation. Read the story of how it came to be here.

And, before the main event at the end of the month, Founder Michael Pratt will be previewing what audience members can expect each round. Fight #4 is below.

If you have been to a Digital Fight Club before, you might think, “Didn’t they fight on this topic before?”

Nope. That was virtual reality. This one is synthetic reality.

Okay. How many realities are there? Well, that’s a different discussion altogether!

Synthetic reality deals with what we, as humans, perceive as real—whether it is or not.

Think back to the demo Google did with a fully AI customer support call that was so realistic it was creepy. Steve Nix, CEO of ForwardXP, and Farrukh Malik, CEO of Roomored, are knee-deep in synthetic reality.

Needless to say, they have different views of that reality.
