Swiss American CDMO Nearly Doubles Manufacturing and Distribution with New Carrollton Facility

The news comes after the company was named one of Inc. 5000’s 2020 fastest-growing private companies this month. Swiss-American manufactures products critical to the healthcare supply chain.

For more than 15 years, Swiss American CDMO, or Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization, has been based in Carrollton. Now, Swiss-American CEO Philip O’Neill said the company is “excited to build even stronger roots” in the city with its latest announcement of a new facility.

The Swiss-American expansion includes a new 131,760-square-foot space that’s just 0.3 miles from its current Carrollton headquarters. The new space will be used as a warehouse and distribution center, while the company’s existing space will be focused on manufacturing and development, the company said. Carrollton Mayor Kevin Falconer said in a statement that the city council appreciates the “added employment opportunities the new facility will bring to our community.”

Expanding laboratory services, creating new production lines, and making innovative equipment are potentially part of the company’s plans for its existing headquarters facility.

Swiss-American specializes in skin and wound care products and invests in advancing development and manufacturing in topical over-the-counter drug, medical device, and personal skincare products critical to the healthcare supply chain.

With the new addition, Swiss-American is almost doubling its manufacturing and distribution space and tripling its storage area.

“By consistently making smart investments over time, we are able to advance our capabilities in developing, manufacturing and distributing high-quality skin, sun and wound care products to customers around the globe,” O’Neill said in a statement.

Expanding the company’s facilities is expected to help Swiss-American advance new discoveries and technologies.

“We continue to adapt and learn in these unprecedented times by applying our expertise to new areas of development to service the needs of new and existing customers,” Komel Grover, president of Swiss-American, said in a previous statement.

Innovation is part of that preparation, she says. The company intends to address a post-COVID marketplace and consumer needs effectively, Grover said. “We stand ready for the future.”

The company’s recent growth has not gone unnoticed.

Swiss-American was recently recognized on the 2020 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. Coming in at No. 3,290, the company has experienced 115 percent three-year growth and has a compound annual growth rate of more than 29 percent over the past three years, according to Inc.

Swiss-American was the only Texas-based skin care/personal care manufacturer to make the list.

The company has made it on the Inc. 5000 list two previous times in the past decade with 2019 marking its second ranking at the No. 2,039 spot.
