Stockholm-based Skanska has signed an $87 million contract to build a new multidisciplinary research and teaching building on the University of North Texas’ Denton campus.
The “state-of-the-art,” 111,000-square-foot facility will fulfill a critical need for more modern facilities that support collaborative and interdisciplinary research on the campus, Skanska said.
The building will expand UNT’s research space across the fields of biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, physics, data science, and computer science and engineering. “Experiential learning opportunities for students” are also part of the plan.
Skanska said the building will be constructed with a cast-in-place structure and showcase a façade combining masonry, curtain walls, and metal panels.
Work is slated to begin this month, with completion expected in October 2026.
