Women who get blowouts often close their eyes while their ‘dos gets done. But when a new blowout bar opens in Deep Ellum, they may want to keep one eye open—and their phone camera ready to snap.
Blowouts & Company will open its doors on Friday, August 9, at 3600 Commerce Street in Dallas’ mural-filled Deep Ellum neighborhood. Some of those nearby street murals were painted by visual artist and entrepreneur Preston Pannek and his wife and artistic collaborator, Adrienne Pannek. The couple is launching Blowouts & Company along with their business partner, Rickie Tapia.
Preston Pannek also owns The Lash Loft, an award-winning lash studio next door to the new space.
‘Instagammable’ views everywhere you look
Inside Blowouts & Co., murals welcome every glance and gaze. Preston and Adrienne, who have collaborated on a series of street murals across Deep Ellum, also collaborated on the murals in their new space.
“The artistic inspiration for this place was Southwest Boho meets Alice in Wonderland inside of your cool grandmother‘s purse,” Preston Pannek told Dallas Innovates.
A lot of that inspiration comes from the couple’s family. The three girls painted on the walls are Preston’s little cousins. The three ladybugs represent Adrienne and her sisters.
Preston Pannek said they created the murals with the blowout stations’ mirrors in mind, wanting customers to feel aswim in the art works as their hair blew in the air around them.
“We actually had to go back and tweak some things once the mirrors were up,” he told us. “Everything was designed to be an experience from the moment you walk in the door throughout your entire appointment.”
The studio’s goal is to deliver “top-notch hair styling services” and “a luxurious and personalized salon experience” amid all the artful installations.
The installations include a lifesize cow sculpture in the loft area upstairs, which was purchased partially sculpted and then reshaped by the Panneks into its final form using fiberglass and Bondo, capped by bovine-beautifying painting details.
The studio’s interior design was done by Preston, with a mix of custom and hand-picked sculptural details and statuettes painted gold and affixed to the walls and ceilings. The flowers and artificial grass detailing were created by Adrienne.
Blowout & Co. aims to become “a go-to destination for those looking to achieve flawless, stunning hair while enjoying a visually captivating environment,” the owners say, with expert stylists who are “trained in the latest techniques and trends, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident and beautiful.” Services include classic blowouts, signature styles, customized treatments, and special-occasion styling.
“After the success of The Lash Loft, I saw a growing demand for high-quality blowout services in the area,” Preston Pannek said in a statement. “Blowouts & Company is more than just a salon; it’s a place where clients can relax, unwind, and leave with fabulous hair while enjoying the vibrant art that Deep Ellum is known for. We can’t wait to welcome everyone and become a staple in the community.”
For Blowout & Co.’s grand opening weekend August 9-11, the studio is offering a special 20% off promotion, the owners said.
