Report: Dallas-Fort Worth Ranks No. 5 in U.S. for Coworking Spaces

Researchers at CoworkingCafe leveraged the most recent proprietary data from June in order to break down the coworking space stock availability in the 25 largest markets, as well as their size and distribution.

Dallas-Fort Worth ranked No. 5  for the number of coworking spaces nationally in the second quarter with 231 flexible workspaces, according to a new report from CoworkingCafe. That’s a 3% increase over the first quarter.

CoworkingCafe calls itself an all-in-one platform for finding and booking coworking spaces. It allows people to browse and book coworking spaces in top markets, from the top operators, across the country.

DFW ranked No. 6 in coworking square footage

As far as total square footage for coworking space, CoworkingCafe said that DFW is in sixth with more than 4.46 million square feet. That’s also a 3% increase over the first quarter. DFW has an average of more than 19,300 square feet per location, the report said.

DFW registered median price increases in terms of coworking subscriptions, virtual offices, and dedicated desks, the report said, while open workspaces showed a decrease.

The report said that both virtual office and dedicated desk memberships rose from $59 to $124 and $254 to $289 per month in the second quarter, while the median price for an open workspace decreased to $150 per month in Q2, from $250 in the previous quarter.

Coworking space across the U.S. jumped 10% in one quarter

CoworkingCafe said that as of June, the national coworking space stock reached a total location count of 6,163, a 10% increase in the span of a quarter. The national inventory stood at 5,612 in March, the report said.

The report said that the leading markets in terms of the number of coworking spaces remained the same as in the previous quarter, the top three—Manhattan, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.—saw increases of 5%, 2% and 7%, respectively, totaling 37 more spaces combined.

Other markets among the top 25—such as Houston—logged 16% more coworking spaces in June than in March.
