A Plano startup has released a tool equipping users with information on the locations and intensity of hail before a storm occurs.

With new patented technology, the DentDash app from Dynamic Weather Solutions can pinpoint localized areas of hail activity before a storm approaches an area.

“Traditionally, only large scale notices have been available, but now we can be very specific about hail activity,” said Daron Sneed, CEO and founder of Dynamic Weather Solutions, in a release.

Having more localized information in advance will allow the public to proactively move their cars to garages and take other preventative measures against the storm, which ultimately could save money from damages. In 2016, hailstorms left Texas homeowners with more than $5 billion in damages, according to the Texas Department of Insurance.

Sneed founded his Plano startup to bring more clarity and accessibility to weather data. Its HailStrike software platform gathers storm data collected from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration into one place, which can be used by roofers, insurance companies, and homeowners.

It’s latest product, DentDash, is available on mobile devices.
