NEC Corporation of America, a top provider and integrator of advanced IT, communications, and networking solutions, has announced the appointment of Kris Ranganath as the new senior vice president of digital platform. Ranganath brings over 20 years of experience in vision artificial intelligence (AI), digital identity, biometrics, and digital platforms to the Irving-based company.
In his new role, Ranganath will report to Chris Jackson, NEC America President and CEO, and drive the strategy and vision of NEC’s digital platform, or DPF. The DPF serves as the center of excellence for NEC’s global digital platform business for identity and vision AI.
In a statement, Jackson expressed confidence in Ranganath’s abilities, saying, “With Kris’s extensive experience and expertise in digital platform solutions, we are confident he will help us maintain our global leadership position.”
Jackson welcomes Ranganath back to NEC after 16 years in various key roles, including CTO and VP of technology and solutions. For his part, Ranganath says he’s “thrilled to return to NEC” as the new senior vice president of digital platform.
Ranganath most recently served as SVP of innovation at Paravision.ai.
Expanding vision AI portfolio
As the SVP of digital platform, Ranganath plans to expand NEC’s vision AI portfolio, collaborating closely with NEC’s global team to deliver “high-accuracy technology, platforms, and services that exceed our customers’ expectations.”
“NEC has a long history of driving innovation in the vision AI and biometrics space,” he said in a statement. “With the success of our NeoFace technology in leading NIST’s accuracy evaluations since 2010, I look forward to further expanding our vision AI portfolio in security, video analytics, and healthcare markets.”
