If you’re stressed out by flying this holiday season, one of America’s favorite candy brands has a solution: a pop-up with cozy seating and a warm-and-fuzzy holiday movie playing endlessly, no matter how many flights are cancelled or bags get lost.
M&M’S chose Dallas’ Love Field out of all the airports in the U.S. for its first-ever pop-up Merry Movie Holiday Lounge. The free “home away from home” holiday pop-up will be “cheerfully decorated, equipped with comfortable seating, and will entertain travelers with a classic holiday movie on loop,” the candy brand said.
Visitors to the pop-up will get to snack on M&M’S while getting a respite from the busy terminal. The pop-up will be offered near Gate 11 starting Wednesday, December 20 through Sunday, December 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT each day (Christmas Day excluded).
“Everyone knows how hectic and busy holiday travel can be, especially for travelers whose plans are disrupted by delays, cancellations or rescheduling,” Allison Miazga-Bedrick, VP of seasonal marketing at Mars Wrigley, said in a statement. “Mars aims to inspire moments of everyday happiness, so we created the innovative M&M’S Merry Movie Holiday Lounge to bring cheer and add a touch of M&M’S to the movie-watching comforts of home during the holidays, amid an otherwise stressful experience for many.”
2-in-3 holiday travelers have ‘at least one stressful experience’
There’s no doubt that the pop-up lounge will be meeting a need. Mars Wrigley, M&M’S parent company, commissioned a study which found that nearly 70% of Americans have traveled for the winter holidays, and of those who traveled, “about 2-in-3 had at least one stressful experience.”
We’re assuming the other 1-in-3 was heavily dosed with Ambien and several tiny bottles of airline Scotch. Thankfully, at Love Field at least, this holiday season they’ll have a healthier, sweeter, family-friendly alternative.

A 20-year, $390 million city of Dallas master plan for redeveloping Hensley Field in southwest Dallas is on hold pending environmental cleanup by the U.S. Navy.
