Over the past year, Match Group has been working to improve its safety systems by investing and partnering with Noonlight to offer online daters tools to stay safe during dates, creating an in-app video tool to keep users safe while social distancing, and bringing on a former Uber executive to its new head of safety and social advocacy role.
Now, Match Group has announced its latest partnership with RAINN to take its safety measures even further.
RAINN, which is an acronym for Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN will be conducting a comprehensive review of Match Group’s sexual misconduct reporting, moderation, and response processes and collaborating directly with Match Group employees to improve its systems and tools.
Across numerous Match Group teams including strategy, product, and customer care, RAINN will advise on policies and procedures, along with providing recommendations on existing and future features.
Through this partnership, Match Group expects its continuing work to create safer online communities and provide survivors of sexual assault with support will be accelerated.
“Every person deserves safe and respectful experiences, and we want to do our part to create safer communities on our platforms and beyond,” Tracey Breeden, head of Safety and Social Advocacy for Match Group, said in a statement.

The process will begin immediately and continue throughout the new year with a focus on Match Group dating site subsidiaries Tinder, Hinge, and Plenty of Fish being reviewed. The best practices will be deployed across Match Group’s entire portfolio, which includes Dallas-based dating platforms Match and BLK.
“Sexual violence, unfortunately, is pervasive throughout our society, and dating platforms are not immune,” Scott Berkowitz, CEO of RAINN, said in a statement. “We’re glad to see that Match Group is focused on prioritizing safety, and we look forward to partnering with them to innovate approaches to these challenges and strengthen support for survivors.”
RAINN is also a founding member of Match Group’s Advisory Council, which works to study and prevent sexual assault, sex trafficking, abuse, harassment, and related issues. The council is the first-of-its-kind in its industry, according to a statement, and provides safety improvement recommendations to Match Group.
