Japanese ‘LifeWear’ Retailer UNIQLO Announces Dallas-Area Opening Dates

A shirt isn't always just a shirt, and an ultra light down jacket with anti-static lining isn't always just a jacket. At 2,500 UNIQLO stores worldwide, "LifeWear" apparel springs from the Japanese values of "simplicity, quality, and longevity." And now the retailer is opening its first five stores in Texas—including three opening in DFW in October.

UNIQLO—a Japanese fashion retailer with 2,500 stores worldwide—is about to open its first-ever stores in Dallas-Fort Worth. And now it’s rolled out the opening dates.

The stores will open at Galleria Dallas on Friday, October 18, followed by The Parks Mall in Arlington and Stonebriar Centre in Frisco on Friday, October 25.

UNIQLO opened its first U.S. location in 2005 and quickly became popular for both its unique customer experience and its innovative lineup of “LifeWear”—simple but high-quality, everyday clothing “designed with life’s needs in mind.” UNIQLO’s apparel has an entire ethos behind it, springing from the Japanese values of “simplicity, quality, and longevity,” The company said it aims to provide “universal designs, supreme fit, and comfort to improve the daily lives of its customers.”

Two other Texas stores opening in Houston and Sugar Land

Along with the DFW locations, UNIQLO said it’s opening two other locations in Texas in the Houston area: Memorial City Mall in Houston will open on October 11 and First Colony Mall in Sugar Land will open on October 1.

“UNIQLO is excited to open five new stores across Texas, an expansion that highlights our dedication to bringing our high-quality, innovative LifeWear and exceptional retail experience to customers all throughout the Lone Star State,” UNIQLO USA CEO Yoshihide Shindo said in a statement. “We’re also looking forward to partnering with local nonprofits through our RE.UNIQLO circularity program. We can’t wait to connect with our new Texan neighbors and become a valuable part of their daily lives.”

Nonprofit ‘circularity’ program

Along with grand opening promotions, giveaways, and “special customer experiences,” UNIQLO said each of the five new stores will have community partnerships with nonprofit organizations as part of the brand’s RE.UNIQLO circularity program, which emphasizes sustainability and giving back.

In Dallas, UNIQLO is partnering with Jonathan’s Place, a local nonprofit that provides “a safe, loving home and specialized services to children who have been victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect.”

UNIQLO said its Texas openings are part of its continued growth across North America, with over 20 new locations planned for 2024. Around half of these stores are already open, “with Texas and California leading the brand’s investment in brick-and-mortar retail.”
