Dallas’ rewardStyle, the influencer marketing firm behind the wildly popular LIKEtoKNOW.it, has announced Bill Bodin as its new chief technology officer. Bodin comes to the company with more than 30 years of experience in the tech industry, including stints as CTO for IBM’s Mobile Computing CIO group and Kony, an omni-channel app platform company.
Bodin says rewardStyle’s business model will provide headroom for boundless growth, as the platform implements the best components and tech in the industry. To him, the rewardStyle’s “secret weapon” is the company itself.
“We extend the value of virtually anything you can buy, creating a stage for influencers, maximizing the visibility of products to consumers and optimizing the way brands market and sell,” Bodin told Dallas Innovates. “Advanced AI-powered analytics combined with a fluid frictionless mobile experience is forever changing the retail industry.”
As rewardStyle’s CTO, Bodin will lead its innovative engineering endeavors as well as shape its technological vision and future product roadmap to grow the platform’s base of global influencers, retailers, and consumers.
“RewardStyle is both incredibly relevant and well positioned for lateral and vertical expansion,” said Bodin in a statement. “I’m excited to be a part of the rewardStyle family, focusing on massive platform scalability and the infusion of amazing digital technologies throughout our brand, influencer and customer experiences.”
At Kony, Bodin chaired its Reference Architecture Council, led technology and strategy assessments, led intellectual property efforts and enhanced Quantum, a platform allowing customers to deliver digital experiences via smartphone, tablet, wearable, and web apps. He also filed eleven patents around artificial intelligence in developmental platforms and cognitive applications.
Bodin’s experience at IBM includes launching a comprehensive mobile ecosystem and creating IBM Catalyst, a mobile development accelerator framework. His background at the corporation included: Distinguished Engineer, recognized Master Inventor, and member of the IBM Academy of Technology and Academy Leadership Team.
Bodin was described as “an extremely well-respected visionary and technology leader with an incredible reputation, depth of knowledge and expertise in the digital innovation space” by Amber Venz Box, co-founder and president of rewardStyle. She added that she is excited by the impending “fusion” that will come from combining Bodin’s innovation experience with rewardStyle’s engineering teams.
“We are thrilled to have Bill join us as we continue to execute on our ambitious goals and remain the undisputed leader in influencer marketing,” said Venz Box. “He will lead efforts with our growing influencer community, and build our next-generation mobile, in-app architecture to better serve the unique and growing needs of our customers.”
RewardStyle’s consumer shopping app is nearing $2 billion in yearly sales and its platform includes 50,000 digital style influencers worldwide. In 2017 Fast Company, honored the brand as one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World.
In Dallas, rewardStyle houses 165 team members at its headquarters in The Centrum. But, there’s around 24 open roles right now, with 17 are in the software engineering area working directly on new innovative tech.
Bodin says rewardStyle is seeking senior data engineers, data scientists, and senior service full stack engineers.
“Be prepared to showcase your talents. At our company, software engineers always have the opportunity to contribute in multiple areas,” he says. “At rewardStyle, it’s my job to ensure our technology is beyond current… and if you want to be challenged, if you want to invent, and if you want to change the way the world operates—you want to be here.”
