100 of the fastest-growing private companies in the Lone Star state are in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to a list released by Inc. Magazine this week. The Texas ranking is the second annual in the Inc. 5000 Regionals.
The 2021 Texas list ranks companies in the state by growth from 2017 to 2019. The 250 companies on the list, which had an average growth rate of 107 percent, added $9.5 billion to the Texas economy and employed 44,000 people, adding some 17,919 jobs.
Dallas-Fort Worth companies had $2.7 billion in total revenue and added more than 7,000 new jobs to the roster.
The region’s companies made up 40 percent of the list, up from 35 percent in 2020. At 100 companies, the Dallas metro had the greatest concentration followed by Austin’s 69 and Houston’s 56.
Two DFW headquartered companies landed in the top 10: Irving-based NexxtGen Corp. (No. 3) and Dallas-based Buzzshift (No. 10). NexxtGen Corp., an innovation-focused IT and telecom service provider founded in 2012, also ranked on the Inc. 5000 last year for the second time (No. 1037 in 2019 and No. 856 in 2020). The company called growth a continuous goal and credits customer satisfaction as the vehicle to attain it, NexxtGen leadership said at the time.
Buzzshift, which bills itself as “the original digital strategy agency,” was launched in 2010. CEO Cameron Gawley, a serial entrepreneur who co-founded the firm, says he likes to challenge the status quo.
Austin-based OJO Labs was the fastest-growing company in Texas, with 2,181 percent growth. The AI real estate firm has a proprietary personal assistant technology that can offer guidance in the home buying and selling process. The company, helmed by John Berkowitz and David Rubin, was founded in 2015.
Rounding out the top 25, you’ll find plenty of DFW-headquartered companies, including:
