IKEA To Open Dallas ‘City’ Store Just East of NorthPark

IKEA said the two-level, 63,000-square-foot small-format store will be located at The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas. The store will offer a new way of reaching customers both in-store and digitally, with 3,200 items available for takeaway, including food.

Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA plans to open a new “city store” in Dallas later this year at The Shops at Park Lane, which is located at Park Lane and Highway 75 across from NorthPark.

“At IKEA, we want to create a better everyday life for the many people and one way we can do that is by bringing IKEA close to where people live, work, socialize, and shop,” Javier Quiñones, CEO & chief sustainability officer, IKEA U.S., said in a statement. “That’s why we’re enhancing our store formats for greater convenience, making delivery more affordable, and ensuring better connectivity with our customers in their daily lives, The opening of IKEA Dallas-University Park is a perfect example of our strategy to develop smaller, more accessible urban store formats, bringing a more connected and accessible IKEA experience to everyone.”

IKEA said it’s trying to become more accessible, affordable, and convenient for its U.S. customers.

The planned two-level, 63,000-square-foot small-format store will offer a new way of reaching customers both in-store and digitally, with 3,200 items available for takeaway, including food. Although IKEA’s full product line won’t be available for immediate takeaway, it can be ordered online, with options for free store pick-up or home delivery at a “minimal” fee, the company said.

“Our biggest competitive advantage are our IKEA stores,” said Ben Sandoval, market manager for IKEA U.S. “This is where everything comes together under one roof and where visitors can experience our brand, our solutions, and our amazing co-workers. This location will provide a relevant food offer and a curated selection of products for immediate takeaway.”

In addition to opening new customer meeting points, IKEA U.S. said it has made significant investments to enhance its e-commerce experience and service offerings, including new IKEA Family and IKEA for Business benefits, lower-priced shipping and delivery, Click & Collect, and TaskRabbit assembly services.
