The new awards honored companies that are helping make Fort Worth a “Best Places for Families.”

These are businesses that offer a diverse range of family-friendly practices that allow our local parents to thrive, she said. The winners in four categories implemented innovative strategies to support working parents through unique policies and practices.

2020 winners were:

Bell
Resource Innovator Bell was noted for its unique employee groups, onsite health clinic, and mobile pharmacy for remote locations.

Fidelity Investments
Event Innovator Fidelity hosts an annual 3,000-person, day-long work and family event that includes a 5K fun run, food trucks, cookie decorating & kids characters.

PMG
Policy Innovator PMG offers a part-time schedule after parental leave, tech-disconnected parental leave, kid-friendly office, and a diaper fund for new parents.

Sigma Pro
Small Business Innovator Sigma Pro has flexible schedules and emergency leave, financial assistance, and bring-your-kids-to-work days. It also offers training for families on financial management, relationships, and emotional health.

The innovators were nominated through an online assessment platform that lets businesses see how they are doing compared to other companies of similar size and industry. The assessment focused on family-friendly policies that have a known impact on a company’s bottom line: those positively impacting productivity, employee retention, job satisfaction and attraction.

And the City of Fort Worth must lead by example, Price shared. “That’s why I’m proud to say we are working to finalize our own paid family leave plan for parents.”

Fort Worth has the 2nd highest number of families with children in the United States, Price says. “They are the future of Fort Worth.” The mayor also noted that prioritizing early childhood education is also important.

“Education is economic development,” according to Price.

The innovator awards are tied to the Price-led Best Place For Kids! initiative, a public-private partnership aimed at making Fort Worth “not just the best city for children, but also known as the best city for working parents.”
