DIA, 900lbs of Creative Partner on West End

900lbs OF CREATIVE WILL SUPPORT DIA’S EFFORTS BY UTILIZING VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY


The talent being dedicated to bringing the vision for Dallas’ West End District took a major step forward with Tuesday’s announcement that 900lbs of Creative and the Dallas Innovation Alliance have formed a strategic partnership.

900lbs of Creative said it would support DIA’s goal of using virtual reality technology to create a proof-of-concept of the Smart Cities Initiative to life via a “unique and immersive experience.”

Dallas Innovation Alliance is the public-private partnership leading the design and execution of the Smart Cities Initiative for Dallas. Its initial efforts are centered on building a “living lab” in the West End.  900lbs is an innovation lab and marketing studio that uses emerging technology to create one-of-a-kind experiences.

“Innovation is at the core of what 900lbs does, as is giving back to our community, so partnering with the Dallas Innovation Alliance is a perfect fit for us,” 900lbs of Creative CEO Steve Deitz said.

He said the company sees the partnership “as an opportunity to bring the Dallas Innovation Alliance’s vision to life using virtual reality.”

Dallas Innovation Alliance Executive Director Jennifer Sanders said DIA is “grateful to 900lbs for bring its team’s talent, technology, and creative vision to support the work of our organization.”

Sanders added, “We can’t wait to share the fruits of this collaboration with the community while highlighting the work of an innovative, homegrown Dallas company.”

NEW TECHNOLOGIES BRING DESIGN TO LIFE

900lbs is collective of experiential designers, interactive artists, and visual concept developers. It uses new technologies to bring experience design to life through services such as interactive installations, exhibits, UI/UX design, visual content, virtual reality, and augmented reality.

This is the latest partnership announced by DIA in relation to the Smart Cities effort.

In April, DIA announced that Dallas-based tech giant AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) had been added as a foundational partner.
