Dallas County Medical Society Names New Chief Financial Officer

Gabriela Uquillas will be just the third CFO in the 147-year history of society. She is experienced in financial strategy, budgeting, and general accounting management, along with supervising investment, tax, audit, human resources, and information technology.

Gabriela Uquillas has been selected as the new chief financial officer of the Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS), becoming just the third CFO in the 147-year history of society,

Her appointment comes after a search led by Tuft & Associates Inc., an executive search firm specializing in nonprofit placements. She will begin her role late this month.

“Gabriela impressed everyone with her expertise, leadership, and thoughtful communication style,” Executive Vice President & CEO Jon R. Roth, MS, CAE, said in a statement. “Her finance and accounting experience in healthcare will be an excellent fit with DCMS. We are delighted she has joined the DCMS family.”

A native of Ecuador, Uquillas earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her master’s in business administration at North Park University, Chicago.

She has lived in Dallas-Fort Worth since 2021.

‘Developing effective financial strategies’

Her career advancement is concentrated in finance, accounting, and operations, DCMS said.

Uquillas is experienced in financial strategy, budgeting, and general accounting management, along with supervising investment, tax, audit, human resources, and information technology.

Most recently, she was manager of reporting, budgeting, and consolidation North America for HOYA VisionCare in Lewisville. Before that, she was the director of finance and operations for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in Elk Grove Village, Ill.

“I am honored to join the DCMS team and to have the opportunity to serve physician members in Dallas County,” Uquillas said in a statement. “Throughout my career I have focused on optimizing financial assets and developing effective financial strategies. I look forward to partnering with members and staff to continue to promote public health and advocate for physicians and patients.”

The Dallas County Medical Society is a professional society of over 9,000 physicians, resident physicians, and medical students who live or practice in Dallas County. It is the second-largest county medical society in the United States.
