CorpInfo, a California-based IT services company with offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, has launched a new company called Onica with a $20 million growth equity investment from Sunstone Partners.

The company said that Onica will focus entirely on the growth of its Amazon Web Services consulting and managed services business, and is an AWS Premier Consulting Partner and Managed Service Provider Partner.

It is led by CEO Stephen Garden.

“The new company reflects the team’s single-minded focus on helping customers succeed on AWS.”
Terry Wise

“This investment will allow Onica to continue to expand sales, marketing, and delivery resources globally, and to accelerate our development of technology solutions that bring operational excellence to the enterprise cloud journey,” Garden said in a release.

He said the announcement is the “culmination of four years at the forefront of the cloud computing boom in collaboration with AWS and having supported hundreds of customers in their transformations.”

The company joined the AWS Partner Network in 2013 under Garden’s leadership as vice president of cloud services for CorpInfo and subsequently became an APN Premier Consulting Partner.

“The CorpInfo-Onica story is a great example of how an APN Partner is accelerating cloud adoption for our customers,” Terry Wise, global vice president of channels and alliances for Amazon Web Services Inc., said in the release. “The new company reflects the team’s single-minded focus on helping customers succeed on AWS.”

CorpInfo is based in Santa Monica, California. Sunstone Partners is a private equity firm based in San Mateo, California, that focuses on growth equity and growth buyout investments in technology-enabled services business.”

Amanda McQueen, head of marketing for Onica, said it chose Dallas to put boots on the ground because of the demand for AWS services in North Texas.

McQueen said the company has been able to find great new talent in the Dallas area.
