Bank of Montreal Taps North Texas for its Newest Tech Hub

With 50,000 employees and $820 billion in assets, the Bank of Montreal plans to add 50 new employees to its 250-person DFW workforce. Placing its newest tech hub in North Texas is part of the bank's plan to make the U.S. a major focus of its business. BMO joins JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and PNC Bank in having a significant tech presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

XFL Selects Arlington, Choctaw Stadium as its Football Operations Hub

Choctaw Stadium—formerly Globe Life Park, next door to the Texas Rangers' current ballpark—will be the home of the XFL's Dallas Renegades and the in-week performance center for the spring pro football league, which kicks off in February.

"The XFL has officially landed in the great football state of Texas," said XFL co-owner Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, promising a "new kind of football experience" harnessing modern technology, content, and interactivity.

Frisco’s PGA of America Forms Investment Partnership to Drive Innovation in Golf
Joining Elysian Park Ventures—the private investment arm of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ ownership group—PGA of America has formed EP Golf Ventures, LLC. Its first two investments include mobile golf simulator Dryvebox and 3D motion-capture coaching app startup Sportsbox AI. “Through EP Golf Ventures, we'll be able to identify and invest in the most promising businesses within the golf industry to support both innovation and the growth of the game,” says PGA CEO Seth Waugh.

AllOY Emerges from Stealth to Bring EV, Autonomous Technology to Boating

Sensors and autonomous tech have made cars and trucks safer for years. Now Grapevine-based AllOY aims to do that for boats—by building its own line of electric-powered, autonomously enhanced boats complete with sensors and backup cameras.

“Sitting on the back of the boat with a glass of wine, it just became clear that those same things were going to have a radical impact on marine,” CEO Brandon Cotter told Dallas Innovates.

Dallas College Is Awarded a $5M Apprenticeship Building America Grant

The grant—part of more than $121 million given by the U.S. Department of Labor to help strengthen and modernize Registered Apprenticeship programs—was the only one awarded in North Texas. The college was also the only higher education institute in Texas to get one of the grants. The grants are intended to help workers find a “reliable path to the middle class," the Labor Department says.
