Dallas’ Kazoo Snacks Tortilla Chips Win Good Housekeeping’s Sustainable Innovation Award

A member of the Upcycled Food Association, Kazoo Snacks says every bag of its tortilla chips saves at least 20 gallons of water by using upcycled corn germ and a short list of other clean ingredients such as salt and corn (or sunflower) oil. Upcycling simply means figuring out a way to use an ingredient that otherwise would have been discarded or unused.

Done Deal: CVS Completes $8B Acquisition of Dallas’ Signify Health

The proposed acquisition was announced in September, with CVS Health beating out other big-name suitors in a bidding war last summer. “This transaction advances our value-based care strategy by enhancing our presence in the home,” CVS Health President and CEO Karen S. Lynch said. Reuters reported that the deal's closing was delayed by a Department of Justice review over antitrust concerns.

Dallas’ Energy Transfer to Acquire Lotus Midstream in $1.45B Deal

Energy Transfer LP, a Dallas-based midstream energy company, will acquire Lotus Midstream Operations LLC, based in Sugar Land, for $1.45 billion in a deal that includes $900 million in cash and approximately 44.5 million newly issued Energy Transfer common units. The acquisition will add Centurion Pipeline Company LLC, an integrated, crude midstream platform in the Permian Basin, to Energy Transfer's portfolio.

Dallas, Fort Worth Ranked Top 2 Among Largest U.S. Cities for Vacant Land

With 90,739 acres of vacant land, Dallas led all 20 of the most populous urban centers in the U.S. for having the most vacant land available. That's according to a report from CommercialCafe, a commercial real estate internet listing service. Fort Worth came in No. 2 with 90,739 acres of vacant land. Four of the top 5 cities on the list are in the Texas Triangle, with San Antonio at No. 4 and Houston at No. 5.

Fisher Investments Announces HQ Move from Washington State to Plano

In a terse statement released Friday evening, Fisher Investments announced plans to move its corporate HQ from its 150-acre campus in Washington State to Texas. Along with its subsidiaries, Fisher manages over $197 billion in assets globally, and one of its five U.S. corporate offices is in Plano. According to Oregon Live, Fisher's announcement was made "in protest" of a state Supreme Court decision upholding Washington’s new capital gains tax.
