Dallas-Based Bottle Rocket and Brazil’s DTI Digital Merge to Expand Global Digital Transformation Reach

The two innovation firms—both part of WPP’s global network—quietly merged in January, bringing together product design, enterprise engineering, and nearshore delivery to serve clients worldwide.

Bottle Rocket, a Dallas-based digital product studio, has been quietly operating as part of a global merger since January—a union with Brazil’s DTI Digital that the companies formally unveiled this week.

The strategic merger combines two innovation-driven firms, expanding Bottle Rocket’s reach beyond its long-standing reputation in mobile and digital experience design to include deep enterprise engineering, cloud infrastructure, and nearshore delivery capabilities across the Americas, the company said. Together, the combined entity operates as Bottle Rocket in the United States and retains the DTI Digital name in Brazil.

The company says it has integrated teams working across North and South America, supporting clients from strategy through execution—and doing so at what they call “the speed of tomorrow.”

“For the U.S. market, this merger means access to a broader and deeper set of capabilities,” said Matt Smith, executive vice president of client engagement and growth at Bottle Rocket, in a statement.

He adds that clients can now count on the combined team not only to “create exceptional digital experiences” but also to “engineer the resilient, scalable platforms that power them, unlocking even greater business outcomes and growth potential.”

Founded by Dallas entrepreneur Calvin Carter in 2008—just after Apple opened the App Store to third-party developers—Bottle Rocket quickly became a leader in mobile app development. Over the years, it’s helped facilitate billions in transactions through the products it’s built, and joined global marketing giant WPP’s Ogilvy network in 2013. Carter stepped down in 2022.

DTI Digital, based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, became part of WPP in 2021, when the global firm acquired a 75% stake. Now, the newly announced merger brings together two WPP-owned companies, combining Bottle Rocket’s strengths in user experience and product design with DTI’s enterprise engineering expertise and nearshore delivery model, which offers cost-effective teams working in close time zones to the U.S.

Marcelo Szuster, named CEO of both companies, sees the merger as a move for scale and speed. “This merger is about accelerating the value we bring to our clients,” he said.

By combining Bottle Rocket’s “outstanding user experience expertise” with DTI’s “deep enterprise engineering skills,” the firms aim to meet the rising demand for seamless, end-to-end solutions, according to Szuster.

He adds that the nearshore delivery model “provides cost-effective scale and agility,” creating “a truly global partner” for companies looking to transform fast and effectively.
