American National Bank of Texas Hires Emerging Markets President

The bank said Marcelo D. Mills' new role will help meet the diverse needs of business owners while furthering its mission and commitment to serve and strengthen its local communities.

Marcelo D. Mills has joined American National Bank of Texas as emerging markets president to increase and support business relationships throughout Southern Dallas.

The bank said his new role will help meet the diverse needs of business owners while furthering its mission and commitment to serve and strengthen its local communities.

“Marcelo’s background — both professionally and personally — is ideal to lead our emerging markets team,” President and CEO Robert Hulsey said in a statement. “He has the financial expertise and acumen, knows what it takes to be a successful business owner, and, most importantly, he’s passionate about serving others.”

American National Bank of Texas is headquartered in Terrell, with locations in Collin, Dallas, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Van Zandt counties.

Removing barriers for entrepreneurs and small business owners

Mills and his team will work on strategic initiatives that help both aspiring entrepreneurs and existing owners, the bank said. One top priority will be assisting with common challenges that affect growth and ownership, such as financial literacy or language proficiency.

“Growing up in a first-generation Mexican American family in North Texas, most of whom are business owners, I saw firsthand the barriers they faced,” Mills said in a statement. “I understand the importance of having local resources that can assist you, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this effort for ANBTX.”

The bank said that the emerging markets team will focus on growing and underrepresented markets across the Dallas-Fort Worth region, with an emphasis on Southern Dallas County.

“Many minority-owned businesses, particularly in parts of Dallas, don’t have the solutions or support they need,” Mills said. “There’s a huge demand for a bank that provides superior financial services and delivers an authentic, customer-first experience, and I think ANBTX, with its legacy and commitment to businesses, is that bank.”

Mills grew up in Haslet and he has spent most of his career in commercial and business banking and has served on multiple boards for local and national nonprofit organizations.

Two years ago, Mills founded Integro Bank in Phoenix, where he was senior vice president of business banking.
